| There is something uniquely special about traditional coaching inns in England. Perhaps it is the history and character so evident within the fabric of the buildings or maybe it's the warm hospitality finely honed over centuries of providing weary travellers with welcome food and lodgings. The Ivy House in Chalfont St. Giles, Buckinghamshire has all of this in abundance and set within Chiltern Vale, the 250 year old coaching inn enjoys a beautiful location too and makes the ideal base for getting out and about in Buckinghamshire.

Exposed original stonework, aged wooden beams, open fires and comfy chairs come as standard in such a place as The Ivy House and as an additional extra there is said to be a ghost too. Just five bedrooms are available, giving real sense of intimacy and each room is individual, commonly presenting modern amenities within traditional features and period fittings. The ghostly goings on, apparently of a 17th century stable lad, never manages to interrupt a peaceful night's sleep within the sumptuous comfort of the beds, adorned with the finest linen.

All rooms are doubles and the accommodation costs per night start from £65 per room for single occupancy and £85 based on two people sharing a room on Friday through to Sunday nights. Weekday rates are £75 and £95 for single and double occupancy respectively. A full English breakfast is included in the price and represents an excellent way to start a day's adventures on the Chiltern Hills or a family day out at Windsor.
